Recently I've been asked by many what can they wear to events with out spending a lot or even better yet- using what they already own. One of the reasons I love playing dress up is because I can make many outfits in advance and use everything I already own. Whether it's for social gatherings, work related events, or out in the town, here is are some easy ways to make new looks with pieces you probably already own.
First and foremost always stay true to yourself and wear something you are comfortable in. Of course, try to experiment with new things such as using accessories, or textures, even bright colors. It's the simplest details that makes the outfit but the confidence that makes the package complete.
Here are some ideas to help you put not just one but many looks together.
Statement Pieces
Let's start with the most popular and easy accessory to work with, the statement necklace and pieces. They can be found just about anywhere. From Target to TJ Maxx and at a great price. You can use them over and over knowing they will never go out of style. Whether it's updating the Little Black Dress, or a plain white top with jeans a jacket and killer heels-the statement pieces will be your final touch.
If you're still hunting for the perfect statement piece I recommend looking into the details it has, the color, and material. Remember you don't have to spend a lot you can even check out flea markets or goodwill and find awesome treasures.
Check out the BaubleBar it carries great pieces for every taste.
Prints
I love, love prints but sometimes it is a bit challenging to make them work continually but it's possible. It can be paired with any color and worn casually or from the office to a date.
Try to find a balance when prints or patterns are worn. Sometimes we can get carried away and look a bit funky. With a balance you'll have detail and personality all in one look or looks.
Whether pairing a printed skirt with a plain top or a leopard clutch to complete the outfit, you will automatically give a specific detail to your overall look.

Lace
Simple and sweet but never boring. Lace is another way to spice up an outfit. It can be worn in any color and mix with other fabrics. Again a very versatile piece. You can roughen lace up with leather pieces as well as add denim for a more casual look.
You can find pieces at H&M, Express, Nordstrom Rack and many other department stores. Again, if you own a piece play around with it. Try adding accessories. That always makes a differnce.
Colors
Color always makes a statement without even trying. I can't live without color. It's food for my soul ! It really pumps up your mood and the ones around you. It can easily be worn on a top, skirt, dress, or pants. If you are not sure about screaming color wear it on your shoes. DSW has a variety of shoes and colors as well as Steve Madden.
