Flatbread with Figs and Prosciutto
By now you've probably seen pictures of figs on my instagram straight from my garden. As you know I love gardening and cooking so combining both is always a delight. Our fig tree has been busy producing large amounts of figs. The branches are bent over and some are even dragging. Which makes it easier for the monster pups to pick their own. For the past 2 weeks I've been giving away bags to co-workers, friends, and anyone who wants some. At the same time I've taken advantage and have been using them in meals. Whether it's adding them to a smoothie or salad to making jelly and my favorite, on flatbread.
This is a quick and savory recipe perfect now, which is fig season. Flatbread with Figs and Prosciutto
-Habanero Jack Cheese or any Cheese of Choice
-Garlic Butter Spread
I take the easy way and buy Stonefire Naan flatbread from Cotsco, which saves time. Start by lathering on some garlic butter on the flatbread. Then add a handful of spinach, put on cheese and sprinkle some crushed pepper flakes. If you don't have any no worries skip this step. Remove the stems and slice your figs.
Arrange your figs along with the Prosciutto and crumble more cheese on top. Pop in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted and figs have turned brown. Once done baking top with chopped basil- serve and enjoy!
The recipe is easy and in 20 minutes or less you have a perfect savory, crunchy flatbread. You can always substitute some of the ingredients and give it your twist.
