Blushington: Makeup and Beauty Lounge

This past week I was invited to Blushington in Newport Beach for a full makeup application. I had seen the ad for this place last year during the OC Fashion Week so I was very curious to try it. I’m no expert in makeup so when there’s a chance for a makeover I’m all for it. I was welcomed by everyone at Blushington including the owner Stephi Maron. The shop is located at Fashion Island next to the Drybar which makes it easy for any one on the go get their hair and makeup done by just walking from one door to the other.

Walking into Blushington is like walking back in time. The décor is shabby chic with pink and cream colors which reminded me somewhat of the 50’s with modern touches. I automatically thought of I Love Lucy and watching Lucy and Ethel at the beauty parlor. It's a girls world.  I was shown around the shop and then introduced to makeup artist Michelle. Michelle asked what look I was interested in trying and I choose Smoke & Mirrors. This was my first time trying a smoky eye look. I love how eye shadows and liners define and transform eyes. I mentioned to Michelle I prefer the focus or center of attention to be my eyes and the rest be very subtle. The results were great. I really liked how the look was not too dramatic but enough to make a statement. It was perfect to use for a day look that can easily shift into evening. My face was a bit shiny and oily which I think was due to my skin type.

Thanks to everyone at Blushington for making my experience wonderful as well as Michelle for the my makeup look and pictures. If you need a little pampering or want to hang out with girlfriends I would recommend this hot spot. I was impress by some of the services they offer to their guests. You can rent out the shop for your own private event and enjoy a makeup party as well as reserve for an at home beauty bash. If you are interested in learning any makeup applications you are in luck- they offer classes.

Whether you live in Orange County or Los Angeles there’s a Blushington near you as well as in Dallas. If you are like me and like to take mini day trips make a day at Fashion Island and enjoy getting pampered at Blushington then go off and have fun shopping and dining.
