In My Skin

Last week I celebrated my 27th birthday and couldn’t be more thankful and happy to be alive, surrounded by the ones I love and those who love and support me. I love the whole process of aging and what comes with it. As a child my parents use to always enforce I sat goals every year and work towards accomplishing them.  Whether it was learning how to play a new piece on the piano or trying a new activity, I had to have new plans every year. Ever since then I haven’t stopped.

Part of aging also brings the wrinkles, insecurities and for many women the number issue. I never understood why many women hate saying their age or even being asked. I never saw my mom have an issue with it. She said it loud and proud and was very empowering of it. I once was told by an elder lady,“Women should never be asked their age.” I didn’t get it so I asked my mom what the reason for that was. She then gave me a whole lesson about what aging is and what it means, at least for us. She started by saying that aging is part of live and we all go through it like death. Be proud and always secure of everything that is part of you. Embrace your flaws because they are what make you and only you. Every year, month, week, day, hour, and second you learn something new that helps build you up whether it’s good or bad.  By setting those goals you are working towards something bigger and building your future. Those wrinkles you see are the signs of your accomplishments and the proof you have busted your tail to make them come true. Working through pain, happiness, loss, sleepless nights, up’s and down’s - you did it and no one can take that away.

Many hate even thinking of their age for various reasons.  It may possibly be because they haven’t lived life to the fullest or maybe they are still stuck mentally in an age where they had dreams that just never came true. Whatever the reason is be proud and happy in your skin and embrace who you are. The most appealing parts of any human are security of oneself, sincerity, and the will to take on challenges.

Don’t over think about whom you are or things you dislike instead work on becoming a strong minded person and focus on what’s going to benefit you and most of all make you happy. Making mistakes is perfectly normal and great. Not only do you learn but can teach others along the way. Don’t stop dreaming and setting goals because this is what this life is about. Challenges and becoming the best version of our self.  Be the leader of your life and not the follower of others.

    1. Thank you! It was my mom's. The skirt gave me the vibe of the 50's era and I love Lucy when she visits Palm Springs and is lounging by the pool. lol I added the pin to give it a little touch of detail.

    1. Thank you and Yes! I love that and I bet your mom is stunning as you. My mom was only able to live until she was 61, but even with her illness and age she was still very happy to say out loud and very beautiful.
