Jewel Toned

Last week I attended Bloggers Night Out and was lucky to meet Rachael, who is a lingerie expert and the designer of Jewel Toned- a new intimates company. I was attracted to her designs by the colors and cute box they come in. Can you believe this mini dress is actually a shapewear garment? Yes! I was as surprised as you and a bit skeptical about it. In my eyes each of the pieces looked like something you would normally wear out. Like this dress, I thought it was perfect for a girl’s night out and if paired with other pieces you could use it for a casual look.

Rachel explained how the idea came about. After seeing so many women wearing bodycon dresses and their under garments being so noticeable, it made her think of what can be done to give an actual smooth and clean look every time. She conducted a survey and asked various women what they thought about shapewear. She quickly found out that it’s something that automatically turns down the confidence of any women. We all use them and to be honest I’m not a big fan of the one piece suit. It’s such a pain when you gots to go.  I usually stick to individual pieces and even then I hate my blood circulation getting cut off. We can all agree there are always issues with intimate wear.

As soon as came home I was curious to try the mini dress. The first thing I notice was how stretchy and thick the material is. I thought it might become sheer once on and stretched out as others do. Another great addition to it is the removable straps and cups, plus it fits all shapes and sizes. Whether you wear it underneath a dress or just as is, it works to your needs. I was surprised to use a size medium and not feel or look like I was going to explode. I did my bend over, splits, run up the stairs test before I exited my home to make sure I was okay.

I decided to layer the dress with my favorite chambray shirt, sandals, and Panama hat. I kept it simple and comfortable. I received complements on the rich emerald green color. I thought the dress might slide around throughout the day but did not.  It really adjusts nicely to your curves and smooths those minor issues. You can wear it underneath your work dress or with a casuals summer dress and let it peak out. Either way it’s a piece that can be used over and over and in so many ways. No one will ever know it's a slip.

    1. Hi Raissa!

Thank you! I thought the same way when I first saw it. But the material is very stretchy and thick so it looks and feels more like a bandage dress. The color was the first thing that attracted me to it. It's very rich. Wishing you a great weekend.
